The Peace of God During Conflict
by William Auki: Nairobi, Kenya
pictured with his wife, Victoria

William and Victoria AukiKenya has been undergoing a tough time since the general election for parliamentarians and the presidency. Violence broke out and the entire country was in chaos for more than one month. Many lost their property through looting and utter destruction just because they hailed from a different community.

The church was not untouched by this event, as we underwent a period of self-examination in which we had to be honest with our own feelings. The conclusion was obvious: we needed to change. Otherwise our personal expectations with respect to the election would poison our own souls. We needed the peace of God. This Bible Talk was written to address this need. The central question that rings in our ears during difficult times is: Where is God when life hurts? We will look at having the peace of God during good and bad times.
Theme For The Year 2008:

Scripture For The Week:
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ. Jesus.

For centuries God has been calling out in love for men to choose and seek him, and his call went out to Florence Onimbo, wife of Jack Onimbo.

WHAT A BEGINNING - From Nairobi’s East Ministries

The East region of the Nairobi church ended the year 2007 with a bang by holding a strategic planning event for 2008. Among the important resolutions adopted in the document was the need for the church to get help in understanding the pivotal role of leadership at Bible Talk level. The roles, functions and expectations were comprehensively articulated giving way to the need to revitalize the status and honour due to this level of leadership.
