We love to hear from members of the church throughout East Africa who may not necessarily be regular columnists for this website, because we all have something to give and a story to share, and, as disciples of Christ, each of us is "full of goodness, complete in knowledge and competent to instruct one another." (Romans 15:14). Here is an article by Winestone Shivachi. THE CROSS IN KAWANGWARE By Winestone ShivachiWest Region, Nairobi Jesus, as the Great Commissioner, charged his disciples to go to all nations and make disciples, baptize them and continue to teach them the word of God. Paul, who understood this, made a radical decision to go "where Christ was not known" (Romans 15:20), and plant the Word in people's hearts. God has worked in a very powerful way in the Kawangware Sector of the Nairobi church's West region, where members decided to make disciples "where Christ was not known." Kawangware is a highly populated area with many villages, one of which is known as Gatina. It has been a prayer of many of the Kawangware Christians to have disciples from this village. After more than a year of prayer, patience and persistence, in the month of March this year, God answered the prayers, and, in a period of less than two weeks, three disciples were baptized and thus started a bible talk in the area. On one occasion, a bible talk in the home of one of the new disciples drew 20 visitors. The new disciples - Mr. and Mrs. Boniface and Pauline Mugaizi and Calistas Muhanda - are fired up and have started studying the Bible with many of their neighbours. We believe that many people from Gatina will see the hand of God. Our next target is yet another village, known as Dagoretti Corner. Our prayer is to turn the entire area upside down for Jesus Christ as men and women make radical changes in their lives and become true Christians to the glory of God. Winestone Shivachi is the leader of the Kawangware Sector. |
