15 December 2006![]() Enthusiastic Turnout At Church Service Outside Nairobi Four disciples from the towns of Makindu and Kibwezi, 170 and 195 kms from Nairobi, joined on the day by a group of enthusiastic and zealous disciples from Nairobi, recently held a Sunday service in Makindu that God blessed with 33 visitors, much joy and great excitement.
The response of the visitors to the message, “God Is Looking For You” by visiting Nairobi evangelist John Maleya, was emphatic. “I’ve been putting off getting to know God, but now I’ll be serious,” said one visitor. Another enthused, “We need to do this more often.” Many expressed interest in studying the bible, a number are currently doing so, and one has declared a desire to be baptized. The seed fellowship has grown around two disciples who work for HOPE worldwide Kenya’s projects in the two small towns. Several have been baptized this year though all but one of them has relocated to other towns due to work. The goal is to raise up a core group of disciples who live in Makindu and Kibwezi, who will not only realize that God is looking for them but will reach out and find Him and help others to do so as well. The source of celebration is not simply the stats at the special Sunday service of the seed assembly of saints, but the faith, focus and forcefulness of the fledgling fellowship in Makindu and Kibwezi. Let us all pray that, as the evidence of this service suggests and the work through this year promises, that "a great door for effective work has opened" (1 Corinthians 16:9) in this part of Eastern Kenya. It only takes a spark to get a fire going, it only takes a seed to get a tree growing, and it only takes great teamwork to get disciples glowing.
