ON HEAVEN’S THRONE Nairobi Disciple, Millicent Shikami, Goes Home To The Lord
On the 23rd of August 2001, less than a month after her 20th birthday, Millicent Shikami was baptized into Christ after studying the Bible with the sisters in the Kangemi Sector of the Nairobi Christian Church. On Tuesday November 14th she started complaining of chest pains which the following day were accompanied by a strong headache, most likely as a result of conditions at her place of work where she would re-pack medicine. In the early hours of Thursday November 15th, Millicent asked her sister to read Psalm 139 to her. Shortly thereafter, Millicent passed on to be with the Lord. When studying the Bible in August to become a Christian, Millicent had been very urgent about getting her life right with God. Once baptized, one of the things Millicent really wanted a lot and spoke of often was for her family members to become Christians. At Women’s Day on November 11th she had 6 of her friends with her at the event, including 2 of her sisters. David says in Psalm 39:4, “Show me, O LORD, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life.” Millicent’s days may not have been many, but in the time that she was a disciple, her enthusiasm was obvious. She was a joy to her new brothers and sisters in the Kangemi Sector. “Millicent was a very obedient person,” says Mary Ondatto. “She had a contagious smile.” Millicent, thank you for the four short but bright months that you lit up our lives. We’ll miss you and look forward to seeing you on the other side. Go to the "Loving Memory" Page |
