16 September 2006 WILLIAM AND VICTORIA New Evangelist and Women’s Ministry Leader Three days after William Auki’s 35th birthday, he and his wife Victoria were appointed evangelist and women’s ministry leader before the Nairobi congregation gathered at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Married on 30 January 1998, William and Victoria joined the full-time ministry in May 1999 when sent to Arusha, Tanzania to lead the church there. William left a lucrative and promising career as an architect in order to relocate to Tanzania. After returning to Nairobi in 2000, they led a part of the East ministries before moving to lead the North region. They moved again, to lead the Kibera region, during which time they almost lost their lives during serious rioting, and have most recently been asked to lead the West region. William and Victoria over see the leadership of the church in Mombasa. Parents to two beautiful children, Ochieng’, 5,and Akinyi, 1, William and Victoria stand out for their humility, perseverance, depth of scriptural knowledge, marriage and parenting. In 2002 they almost lost their lives during violent clashes in Kibera, where they lived and led, but, with resilience and resolve, continued to powerfully shepherd the ministry there.
William and Victoria met and dated while students in the campus ministry. Says William on behalf of he and Victoria (who are pictured on the right on the occasion of their appointment), “This feels great. It’s a dream come true. When I was first told [that we would be appointed] it was unbelievable. We are inspired to serve God in even greater ways and pray that others will also be inspired in their walk with God and in their spiritual dreams.” |
