Where Is God When Life Hurts?
The Peace of God During Conflict
by William Auki: Nairobi, Kenya

William and Victoria AukiThese are two in a series of bible talks written by William Auki, evangelist in the Nairobi church. He is pictured with his wife, Victoria Auki. The two of them lead Nairobi's ministries in Kitengela, Kangemi and Kawangware.

Kenya has been undergoing a tough time since the general election for parliamentarians and the presidency five moths ago. Violence and chaos broke out across the country following announcement of the election results. Disciples were not left untouched physically or emotionally, and as Christians we had to be honest with our own feelings. We needed to change. We needed the peace of God.

These Bible Talks were written to address this need. The central question that rings in our ears during difficult times is: Where is God when life hurts? We will look at having the peace of God during good and bad times.

The Fruit Of Faith
By Rayola Osanya-Nyynéque: Nairobi, Kenya

My wife and I recently travelled from Nairobi, Kenya to attend the 10th anniversary service of the church in the capital city of Rwanda, Kigali. The Lord had sent us to plant the church there initially. Here are some lessons that I learnt that encouraged me, which I hope may encourage others as well.

Invaluable Lessons
A Whole New World

3 September 2007

Here are two classes from the Nairobi single professionals ministry.

TODAY IS MY DAY

Psalm 118:24 says “THIS IS THE DAY THAT THE LORD HAS MADE. LET US REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT.”
Today is your day. Give your very best to all. Look good. Smell good. Treat yourself to that sumptuous meal. Give your very best to all, after all today is your day. My mum's special occasion to wear that special dress come on 28 th October 2000 when we buried her in her brand new outfit she had set aside for that special occasion. (This article is in her memory.)

BY PRAYER AND PETITION
While this class was written to prepare sisters for Women’s day, it is practical, powerful and applicable for all situations in which we desire to do something great for God and for God to do something great in our lives.

As we approach our very special Women’s Day 2007 what is it going to take? When faced with the enormous task of going back to rebuild his city he started with a prayer of confession. 26 January 2007
RUNNING WITH A PURPOSE

By Josephine Muinde

"Run in such a way as to get the prize." 1 Corinthians 9:24
"I have finished the race." 2 Timothy 4:7

In the above passage and others across the bible, Scripture compares the Christian life to a race, and indeed there is much we can learn from running, as Josephine Muinde, a sister in Nairobi's Middle East region did, when she participated in the 10km race at last year's Nairobi Standard Chartered Marathon, which is one leg of a worldwide series of marathons - and 20km and 10km races - known as the Greatest Race On Earth. Josephine (pictured left) shares the lessons that she learnt from the run as she perseveres and succeeds in what truly is the greatest race on earth - Christianity.

They say marathons are long. Tough. Challenging. Inspiring. Satisfying...

COMPLETING THE CONTRIBUTION
Bringing To Completion Our Giving Of Special Contribution

In this class we are encouraged to see that comletion is the heart of God and thus in appreciation and imitation of this, those of us who may yet not have completed our special contribution giving are implored to aim to complete it - not because we must but because we are willing and are moved to do so.

PATIENCE
The following class was taught in the First Century Sunday services of the Nairobi's Metro Region on 29 November 2006
Gal 5:22-25
The fruits of the Spirit are so inter-related that you can’t separate them.
Patience is related or even given as “Long suffering” - being slow to anger bearing with others, forgiving others, and bearing with the provocations of others. A patient has got to have patience. It has to do with difficult moments.

DARE TO DREAM AGAIN
East Africa Leadership Conference January 2005

We have dreamt before and God has done great things in our lives. We must dream again. This truly is the time pre-eminently for us to dare to dream great dreams, determine to do grand deeds and decide to be great disciples. God helping us, we will all have a spiritually successful year in 2005 and beyond. Notes from the conference sermons.

FAITH AT THE DOOR-Theme For February 2005
There is no overestimating the need for and the power of faith. "Without faith it is impossible to please God," the Hebrew writer penned (Hebrews 11:6). In the first of his epistles John writes, "This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith." (1 John 5:4). Faith is at the door. Let us welcome it in, make it an integral part of our family, and let it lift us, inspire us and transform us always.

THE VALUE OF ONE SOUL-Theme For January 2005
When Jesus gave up his life upon the cross, it was not because he knew that every single individual would respond with gratitude, be moved by the cross, and follow him. On the contrary, while he desired that we all get saved, he knew that many would not give their lives to him - after all, it was he who had taught about the wide and narrow road - but did it because every soul that would be saved, no matter how few they may be in the larger proportion of world population, was of great value to him. And each soul still is of great value to him. Each soul is of great value. As we consider our commission to make disciples of all nations, we must once more get in touch with the value of one soul.

New Year Resolutions, By Janet Fleurant:
Many people start each new year with a lot of resolutions, a list that is often long and unrealistic:
- I will run 8 miles every day.
- I will drink 12 glasses of water daily.
- I will read my Bible and pray every day for at least 3 hours.
Simplify your resolutions. Narrow it down. Focus on only a few things. Here are a few helpful hints.
