GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE
Ecclesiastes 12:13,14
The biggest question for each of us is, "Why do I do what I do? What is the foundation of my motivation?" It's sad to see that many people have done great things but with the wrong motives, and this nullifies their efforts to please God. When we remove God from the picture then everything becomes about us. To reach our full potential we must realize that it is all about God. Our goal and purpose is to fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. So let's live in appreciation.
Psalm 105:1-7
Remember the words of the song, "To God be the glory, great things he has done…" The truth is that God has done so much for us, thus we need to live in appreciation of his greatness by obeying his commandments.
We tend to complain about what we want and what we do not have. Yet we fail to understand that God has our best interests at heart. He is working day and night to make sure that we get what we need.
When we realize that it is all about God, our activities will be motivated by appreciation. We will do things not because of other people's expectations, but because of God's expectations of us.
Consider the following areas of your life and note how many of them have been motivated by God's awesome and wonderful deeds.
1. EVANGELISM
John 4:28-30
This woman went and reached out to the whole city because she was overwhelmed with gratitude. She could not help but speak about what god had done for her. Evangelism will cease to be a struggle if we are motivated by gratitude rather than duty.
2. GIVING
2 Corinthians 9:7
How easy is it to offer to pay bus fare for someone who has given you 100 times that amount of money in the past? Why? Because you are motivated by gratitude and not duty.
Q. In your giving to God, do you consider that he has given you more than enough?
God loves a cheerful giver because that giver is motivated by gratitude.
3. QUIET TIMES
1 John 5:2,3
If we appreciate our relationship with God, we will always be excited to pray and read our Bibles because it is by obeying God's commands that we demonstrate our love for him.
The best we can do is to put God in the picture in everything that we do. This will give us an everlasting motivation to everything that we do. When we understand that it's all about God, then we will start climbing up the ladder of spiritual prosperity.
