SEEKING TO PLEASE GOD

John 5:30
Jesus could have taken the credit for what he did, but he clearly understood that it was all about God. That's why:
First, he knew that on his own he could do nothing.
Secondly, he sought to please God.
Jesus attributed all his victories to God.

Q. What is your attitude in connection to this? Is this your strength? Do you seek to please yourself or to please God? Is God in the picture in your life? Is it all about God for you?

1. DO NOT WORRY

Matthew 6:25-34
We worry so much because we are self-focussed. It's all about us - "When will I get that pay rise, that job, when will I get married?" etc. God knows that we need all these things and is even trying to make it easier for us to get them. Imagine just doing two things (seek first God's kingdom and seek first God's righteousness) and all you want is yours!

Verse 33 says it all. Have you ever wondered why the things you really want don't come your way even when you seem to be obeying the Scriptures? Truthfully, we normally don't quite obey this Scripture. When things we desire and pray for don't come our way, our argument is, "I go to church, I attend all bible talks and devotionals. I am seeking first God's kingdom."

God said that you are to seek his righteousness too, not just his kingdom. When you complain, are bitter, are envious, arguing, are you being righteous?

Let us do what God has asked of us.

2. DECLARE HIS PRAISES

1 Peter 2:9
When it's all about you, you stop at nothing and make every effort to win the praise of others. When it's all about you, you declare your praise.

When it's all about God, you do what he called you to do and you make every effort to do it. When it's all about God, you will declare his praise.

God has done so much for us. He has he has given us reasons to think about him. It is he who chose us, who made us a royal priesthood, so that we can declare his praises.

We have begun a new year, through God's love and mercy. Let's make every day count. Remember this is possible only if it's al about god. Are you going to declare his praises?

Let us all enjoy this year, the year of the Lord's favour with our focus on God, for it's all about him.
