WHEN YOU BELIEVE, YOU WILL GIVE
Matthew 6:25-33
When we give in to worry, we stop giving God 100% and we start giving excuses. Worry changes things negatively and God changed things positively, so do not worry; instead trust God and walk with him.
Philippians 4:4-6
Pray about issues, and do so with thanksgiving, not with grumbling or worrying hearts.
1. DEAL WITH YOUR HEART
Proverbs 13:4
Let us be diligent. Be diligent in going after the goals you made at the beginning of 2004, in your daily Bible study, in your outreach to non-disciples, in your financial giving to the church, etc.
Proverbs 15:19
Depending on your faith, you will look ahead of you and either see thorns or a highway, i.e. you will see either obstacles or opportunity.
Q. Have you giving your best or holding back?
2. SACRIFICIAL GIVING
2 Samuel 24:21ff
David's attitude: "My sacrifice must cost me something." He was willing to pay the price.
Q. Are you willing to sacrifice or are you trying to live a discipleship that involves no financial giving?
This is no to say that people should not budget, but there needs to be faith - and not excessive caution which ends up making us ungiving - in the handling of our finances.
A church or disciple that is giving is a church or disciple that is growing.
2 Corinthians 8:1-3
Giving is an issue of the heart - giving of our time, our energy, our talent, our resources, ourselves.
Giving financially is also a matter of the heart.
The Macedonians gave joyfully. So it is obvious that hey had faith that even as they gave, God would continue to provide for them and work in their lives.
There are things that we do for ourselves that require money yet we say that we do not have enough money to give God - we braid our hair (sisters), get haircuts, put oil on our skin, etc.
In some cases there is great financial hardship among disciples, but in other cases we are more able to give than what we say we are able to do.
The Macedonians gave sacrificially "on their own." They were not waiting to be reminded and followed up on constantly in order to give.
Q. Does the example of the Macedonians describe your giving to God and the church? Is this your heart?
Let us give out of a faith in and a gratitude for God.
