THE CHARACTER OF A DREAMER

Human beings have a character of starting things powerfully but then deteriorating gradually. We have the desire to dream big yet lack the character to unleash their potential for excellence. Many of us today have lost our dreams. We have the opportunity to recapture our dreams.

1. BY IMITATION

Ephesians 5:1,2

As disciples we need to imitate God more than anyone else.. We need to imitate his love, patience, hard work, mercy, grace, etc. This will take humility which will, in turn, rekindle our dreams. One of the reasons our dreams die off is because we are not good imitators of God. God never gave up on us, so we should never give up on our godly dreams.

Philippians 4:8,9

Paul gives us a list of several virtues to imitate in him - truth, nobleness, righteousness, purity, love excellence, etc. If we possess these qualities, we will definitely recapture our dreams in Christ. Most of our dreams are not exploited because of the lack of the above virtues.

2. BY PERSEVERANCE

Luke 8:15

The giant killer of our dreams is lack of perseverance. We could have everything else in place, but if we lack perseverance then we will not produce any fruit.

The good soil is a noble person with an incredible heart who hears the word and has a powerful retaining ability of the Word, yet without persevering he cannot produce any fruit. Thus perseverance is the key quality for us to hang on to our dreams and goals and pursue them.

James 1:2-4

Whenever we come up with dreams and goals, Satan will come with challenges to destroy them, but we should not give in because we will not grow or reach maturity if we give in.

James 1:12

A blessed man in the eyes of the Almighty is one who perseveres and holds on to his dreams and goals no matter what the circumstances. Then and only then will we be able to recapture our dreams.
