DEVELOPING SPIRITUAL DREAMS
Some dreams are exciting, some bothersome, while others are embarrassing. It's great to have spiritual dreams since there is nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to a positive spiritual life.
1. IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE YOUR PERSONAL DREAM
Judges 7:13,14
Gideon overheard someone else's dream, not his own. He realized, though, that this was what God wanted him to know. He got encouraged and went after it.
Verse 15 - it made him very zealous.
Q. When you hear about great things being planned that are geared towards advancing the kingdom in a great way, do you go after them with zeal or do you hesitate?
Q. When you look at Scripture and see the vision that God wants you to have, do you go after it? Q. What plans do you have to see to it that God's dreams are realized in you life?
Luke 19:10
Christ knew that his mission was to seek and to save the lost. The first-century disciples personalized this vision and went after it.
Q. Is it your dream to seek and to save the lost?
Q. How much are you teaching people the Word so that they may know the Lord?
2. IT SHOULD BE A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
Judges 7:17
Spiritual dreams should inspire us to do greater and greater things. Gideon sets the pace right here. His attitude was, "follow my lead." When you capture the dream, you will be setting the pace and not just sitting back watching others.
Q. Have you been leading in godly things - purity, evangelism, Bible study, openness, etc.?
Q. Are people inspired by your example?
Q. Are people proud of you, just as the Israelites were proud of Gideon to the point of imitating him?
1 Corinthians 11:1
Paul was so inspired by the dreams of Christ that he made them his own.
1 Corinthians 9:19-23
Paul became all things to all men so as to win them.
Q. Are you inspired by the dreams of Christ?
Q. Are you becoming all things to all people so as to win them to Christ, or are you being won over by the society around you and have no dream at all?
Let us personalize Christ's dream, like Gideon, Paul and the first century disciples. Recapture the dream and be inspired to do great things for God.
