GOD'S LOVE FOR US
Ephesians 3:14-20
We, as a church, are part of God's family, both in heaven and on earth. We all belong to the same father from whom our name comes, meaning that we all have a relationship that ties us so closely together. This relationship is one of LOVE. Paul prayed that all the members of the Ephesian church would be deeply rooted and established in love so that they may have the power, together with all the saints to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ (vv 17b,18)
Q. Are you rooted and established in love? How do you show this love to others?
Q. Do you understand the love that Christ has for you? What impact dos this love have on you and on the rest of the church?
God's love for us is immeasurable! He desires to build a family out of the world - a family known by its love for God and for each other. God demonstrates his love for us daily by:
1. HIS UNDYING LOYALTY TO US
God's loyalty to us is deeply rooted in his constant and consistent promise that he will never leave us or forsake us. This promise is repeated several times to different people through the generations.
Exodus 3:12 God says to Moses, "I will be with you…"
Joshua 1:5 "No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses so I will be with you. I will never leave you or forsake you."
Judges 6:12 "The LORD is with you, Mighty warrior."
1 Samuel 18:12-14, Jeremiah 1:8, Matthew 28:19,20
It is clear from the above Scriptures that God is with us always.
Q. Are you loyal to God as he is loyal to you?
2. HIS UNENDING MERCY UPON US
Ephesians 2:3-5
We were and still are sinners. We were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive in Christ even when we were dead in transgressions.
Romans 6:19a
Paul shows us that we are all weak in our natural selves.
Q. Do you recognize your weaknesses? Do you appreciate your weaknesses?
We often want to be identified as strong and righteous people. This causes us to not seek mercy from God or confess our sins, for fear of what people may think.
Luke 18:9-14
We must never be overconfident of our own righteousness. Humble people seek God's mercy. We all need to come before God crying, "Have mercy on me, a sinner."
Apply Hebrews 4:14-16.
