REMEMBER THE LORD WHEREVER HIS GOSPEL IS PREACHED

Mark 14:1-9
As we help others to become disciples, what this woman did will be told and spoken of. Who was she? John 11:1,2 The woman who poured perfume on Jesus' feet was Mary, sister to Lazarus.

1. SHE HAS DONE A BEAUTIFUL THING
Luke 7:36-38

We need this kind of conversion as we help people to change and to follow God. What the woman (Mary) did was from the bottom of her heart. She was truly and fully broken and penitent. We need to help people get to this point in their hearts as they change to become Christians. We must get back to calling people to this kind of repentance. This kind of repentance is a beautiful thing in the eyes of God.

There are people with this heart. There are people who will have as godly a response as this when they are taught the truth from the word of God. Let us help them to become disciples and let us not water down god's standard of repentance.

Mark 14:3-9
We need to have this desire to serve Jesus - on a level that is even humiliating. What made this woman such a great model, that Jesus would declare that what she did would be spoken of, is that she had a grateful heart that moved her to serve. We need to serve God and people out of gratitude and not do it in order to be seen. We need to learn to serve God and people and not get so caught up in ourselves that we forget others.

2. DO AS I HAVE DONE FOR YOU
Mark 14:1-9

As we help others to become disciples, what this woman did will be told and spoken of. We have lacked what this woman provided in many ways. While the disciples were engaged much in preaching, teaching and healing, this woman focused on meeting Jesus needs. We can get so caught up in trying to save the lost that we forget to reach out to and care for the saved.

John 13:1-17
It is quite likely that what Mary did to Jesus in wiping his feet then inspired Jesus to wipe the feet of his disciples. As disciples we should be showing the full extent of our love for each other.

True service is when we give to others without thinking about our self-image. Sometimes we are too careful and cautious in how we serve each other and give of ourselves. Jesus just served. Mary just served. In both cases they shed all embarrassment and shame to serve in the selfless way they did.

When we truly love one another in this godly, Christ-like way, more people will want to remain faithful and fewer people will decide to leave the fellowship of disciples. In all that we are and all that we do, ours must be hearts of total brokenness, a heart to call others to total brokenness, and a heart to serve selflessly as we show God and men the full extent of our love.
