TELL THE RIGHTEOUS IT WILL BE WELL WITH THEM
Isaiah 3:10
At this time in history God had decided to bring judgement on Jerusalem and Judah. Because of their sin and rebelliousness against God, God decided to bring disaster upon them. In the midst of this impending disaster God's message to the righteous amongst them is very encouraging and building, "It will be well with you!"
God wants us to understand that those who strive for righteousness are not labouring in vain. It will pay dividends at the right time. This serves as a great reminder as God is calling the righteous to live by faith. For this to become a reality in our lives, we need to embark on the following:
1. SOW FOR OURSELVES RIGHTEOUSNESS
Hosea 10:12
God was encouraging the Israelites to sow for themselves righteousness. If and when they did this, they would reap the fruit of unfailing love. It is true that when we sow for ourselves righteousness we will increase in our love for God, for one another as disciples, and for the lost too. In order to sow for ourselves righteousness, we need to seek the Lord in our lives.
Q. How much are you seeking God in your life - in your marriage, relationships, work place, school, college?
Seeking righteousness entails pursuing things that please God.
Philippians 1:9-11
Among the things that Paul prayed for concerning the disciples in Philippi was that they may be filled with fruit of righteousness that comes through Christ. We, too, should be praying for and pursuing the same. The fruit of righteousness will be evident when our walk with God is great!
Q. Is the fruit of righteousness evident in your life today? When this becomes our conviction, we will become more self-controlled, God-loving people, forgiving, pure, patient, etc. It takes a committed heart to decide to pursue righteousness. Let's just do it!
2. SEE THE INVISIBLE
Hebrews 11:27
The beginning of Moses' greatness came when he fixed his eyes on the invisible God. When he saw the invisible God, Moses was able to face his fear and insecurity and rise up to become a great liberator. Of God's people.
Q. What fears, anxieties or difficulties are you facing today? Is it in finances, marriage, academics? We all need to open our eyes, like Moses, and see the invisible God, ready and willing to deliver us powerfully.
2 Kings 6:15-17
Elisha was in deep trouble. He was pursued and surrounded by an army with horses and chariots. The two men, however, saw the situation very differently. The servant saw the might of the surrounding army and concluded that defeat was certain. The cry of, "O, my LORD, what shall I do?" was not a cry for help, but rather a cry of desperation and hopelessness.
Elisha, on the other hand, saw beyond the army and the enemy chariots. He the invisible army of heaven, ready to defend the righteous.
Q. What are you seeing in your life today? Is it the invisible chariots of fire or the marauding army of challenges, difficulties and problems?
Just like Elisha, then, we need to pray and ask God to open our eyes to see the invisible. This will enable us to conquer the fears and challenges that we will continue facing in our day-to-day lives.
2 Chronicles 20:20
It is time that we had faith in the Lord our God. For God to uphold us and grant us success in all that we venture into, we need to see things through his eyes.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Walking by faith is not a bed of roses, but the encouraging thing is to remember what Paul told the Corinthian church, that our troubles are but momentary and they are designed to achieve for us ETERNAL GLORY.
So let us fix our eyes, not on what is seen but on what is unseen. What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Amen!
