A REASON TO SAY "THANK YOU"
It is rare that we sit down and verbalize the things for which we are thankful. We should not wait to lose things and only then realize their value. We must be thankful for:
1. THE GRACE OF GOD
Titus 3:3-8
Paul reminds us how badly off we used to be because of our sin. But he also reminds us that we are saved by grace, which should motivate us to depend more on God and give him our best.
When we lose sight of grace, our joy goes up and down depending on how life is going around us. When we are thankful for the grace of God, we have joy, contentment and a great sense of purpose.
Q. Do you give your best every day in Bible study, prayer, evangelism, marriage and purity?
Q. Do you give your best every month in your financial contribution to the church?
Ephesians 2:8-10
Grace is a gift. That does not mean that there is no work to do. There is work to do - a lot of it, which we do because we are thankful for the gift of grace and salvation.
Q. Do your life, actions and works show thankfulness for the grace of God?
2. THE WORD OF GOD
Luke 4:9,10
Satan quotes Psalm 91:11,12. Let us read that passage and comp[are what Satan says to what the passage originally says. Psalm 91:11,12 Satan leaves out the words "in all your ways," which we find in the original passage. If you are not close to the word of God, you will not only be unable to detect misquotes of it, but you too will misquote it and will thus be unable to apply it effectively.
Matthew 9:10-13
Quoting Hosea 6:6, Jesus tells the Pharisees to find out what that means. Let us read Hosea 6:6 and see what it means. Hosea 6:6 God is talking about acknowledging him, but if you only read Matthew 9:10-13 you may not get the full depth of the message.
Q. Do you invest in buying material to improve your Bible study or do you only spend money on food, clothing, land, electronics and other such items?
3. YOUR FAITH IN GOD
Matthew 9:27-29
It is time that we have simple faith. Take your issues, problems and goals to God and trust him completely to work things out for you.
When you lack faith, you end up having discussions with yourself and spend so much time trying to analyze things that you do not move forward. You end up finding reasons not to do the different things that you know that you should do as a disciple.
As we master faith, we will overcome fear, anger, laziness and doubt.
