HOW TO SAY "THANK YOU"
It is one thing to just say "thank you," but it is another thing to show that you are really thankful.
1 Chronicles 16:8,9
David writes this psalm calling us to give thanks to the Lord and call on his name. He says that we should always make known among the nations what God has done for us. How (?) - by sharing it with people and letting your life show that you are grateful. Let people know how awesome God is and how grateful you are.
1. OFFER YOUR BODIES AS LIVING SACRIFICES
Romans 12:1
In view of God's mercy (i.e. considering God's mercy and love) we should decide to sacrifice our bodies to please God.
We should remember what God did for us, sending his only Son to die for us, even though we had sinned terribly, and this should motivate us to use our bodies righteously - to offer them as holy and pleasing before God himself.
The way we live our lives shows whether we are grateful or not. Offering our bodies as sacrifices is our spiritual act of worship. It shows that we are grateful. How do we do this?
Self-denial
Say "no" to the desires of the flesh (body), and "yes" to the will of God.
Romans 6:6 Do not be slaves to sin.
Romans 13:14 Clothe yourselves with Christ - strive to please God, the way Jesus did.
Q. Do you say "no" to sin in the various situations that tempt you each day?
Q. Is God in the picture, where your fear of him helps you to say "no" to sin?
Galatians 5:16, 1 Peter 4:2 Live for the will of God - to please God.
Practicals:
Deny yourself to go follow up on a friend or on a weak disciple.
Deny yourself food by fasting in order to draw close to God.
Deny yourself comfort by serving God even when you are tired or hungry.
2. BE CONTENT IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES
Philippians 4:10-13
Paul was happy that the Philippians were concerned about his well-being. He was content and not complaining.
Q. Are you happy with what God has given you, however little it might be?
Whatever the circumstances, good or bad, be content, joyful and happy. That is the godly thing to do.
Ingratitude is dangerous. It kills. Remember that the Israelites perished in the wilderness because of their ungrateful hearts.
Philippians 2:14-16 Do not complain about anything.
Philippians 4:4-7 Rejoice always.
Do not be anxious. Be content. Instead, pray and be thankful always and you will have peace from God.
Q. Is this your way of life?
