TODAY IS MY DAY
By Tony Kinyanjui, Nairobi, Kenya.

Matthew 6:34:
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
In saying these words, Jesus must have foreseen how my mum and other villagers use to save their best stuff for that special day, which was unforeseen tomorrow. Many a time they worried about what to wear when that occasion would come, what to use to serve the guests that were to come on unknown tomorrow.

As a result many of the neighbors had that special dress or suit kept aside for that special occasion. There were cups, glassware, plates all locked up in cupboards or on display as they waited for that special day. My mum had a special dress that she had kept for her special day.

We do not know the day or the hour that the Son of Man shall return. This calls for us to make each day a special day. Wear your best outfit, treat yourself or your family for once without thinking about the cost. For mothers or wives, why don’t you serve your family using your best chinaware that you have saved for a grand occasion.

Husbands: anniversaries, birthdays etc are not the only times that that you get to treat your wife to a candlelight dinner. Why don’t you create a special occasion and treat her tonight, no need for dinner dress or suits. By taking her out the occasion is already special.

Remember what you promised your child that you would do tomorrow just to shut them up? Why don’t you do it today? Reconcile with all, give your very best at your place of your work, at least they will remember you for that if today ends up being your last day. Strive to be at peace with everybody. After all nobody knows the day or the hour.

James 4:13-14:
Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Reads that today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city spend an year there carry on business and make money, while you don’t even know what will happen tomorrow , your life is like a mist that appears for a while then vanishes.

Postponing of change can be one fatal mistake that we make, tomorrow is Satan’s best weapon because he knows that it may never come, before you commit yourself to do something tomorrow ask yourself why I can’t do it today. Otherwise these five dreaded words will be part of you: ”I WISH I HAD KNOWN.”

Today is your day. Give your very best to all. Look good. Smell good. Treat yourself to that sumptuous meal. Give your very best to all, after all today is your day. My mum's special occasion to wear that special dress come on 28 th October 2000 when we buried her in her brand new outfit she had set aside for that special occasion. (This article is in her memory.)

Psalm 118:24 says “THIS IS THE DAY THAT THE LORD HAS MADE. LET US REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT.”
