THEME FOR THE MONTH: THE VALUE OF ONE SOUL
THE VALUE OF YOUR SOUL
While we must think much about the value of the souls of others and then go all out all the time to win all people, we must each think about the value of our own souls and salvation. Indeed it is hard to appreciate the value of the souls of others without first having an understanding of the value of our souls.
1 Peter 1:18,19
God established the value of your soul. Your soul was purchased by the blood of Jesus. The price paid shows the value. God values your soul highly. You are not an irrelevant person in the church. God notices you and needs you. Value your soul. Value your salvation.
Philippians 2:12,13
You must work out your salvation with fear and trembling, i.e. don't be casual about guarding your soul. Instead, do all that you can to keep your soul godly. One way to do this according to this passage is to grow in obeying the bible, and not only when disciples are with us, but always.
Q. Do you try your best to obey all parts of Scripture, or only some, as you allow yourself to compromise in other areas?
Galatians 2:1-3
Paul went to see the other apostles in order to make sure he was not running the race in vain. He wanted to be discipled.
Q. How eager are you to be discipled/ to seek advice/ to get help about personal issues in your life?
When you realize the value of your soul, you will get help to keep your soul whole.
Proverbs 22:5
He who guards his soul keeps away from thorns and snares (traps). To know what these thorns and snares may be, let us read Matthew 13:22. Thorns and snares that kill your soul are worries and the pursuit of money as a priority over God.
Q. What issues in your life have made you worry of late? Q. In what instances have you compromised and sinned at work or in any other situation from which you wanted to make a financial or material profit? Q. If you are inconsistent in giving contribution, is it because you are unwilling to give your money away? Q. What is your plan for raising special contribution? Start early. Put together a plan now.
1 Corinthians 9:27
Like the apostle Paul, don't get so caught up in the idea of winning souls that you leave yourself with a sinning soul. Preach to the lost, because their precious souls must be saved, but preach to yourself too, i.e. expect it of yourself to be a disciple who follows the bible strictly. Read your bible daily and pray daily, and do not just tell others to do so.
Q. How have your personal bible study and prayer been?
2 Peter 1:10,11
Always make your election sure. Make sure that your soul is righteous and godly just as our Father wants it to be as you aim to secure a heavenly eternity in glory.
