FAITH COMES FROM WHAT IS WRITTEN

Romans 10:17 Faith comes from the message of Christ, which is written out for us in Scripture.

1. RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT COMES FROM FAITH

Hebrews 11:4-6
It is written for us to learn, be encouraged, live out and teach.

Abel did what was right based on his conviction and trust in God, not based on any example that he had seen and could learn from, but based on faith.

Abel was a pioneer of faith. True faith is trusting God and believing his promises because you know that God is faithful and not because you have seen someone else succed in the area where your faith is challenged.

Hebrews 11:7
The facts were that there was no rain, no one had ever built an ark before, Noah was not a trained ship builder. But the righteousness that comes by faith dictated that he obey God, trust god and rely on God although it did not make sense to the people around him.

It may not make sense to many for us to be focused at this Christmas period on self-control, financial discipline and seeking first the kingdom, but when we have a righteousness that comes by faith, that is exactly what we will do.

2. A BETTER COUNTRY - A HEAVENLY ONE

Hebrews 11:11-19
Abraham did not live to see his people become as numerous as the sand on the seashore as was promised. But that did not stop from fully believing the promise that it would happen and did not stop him from believing God giving God his best.

Sometimes we give upon things because we do not see the results we desire as soon as we desire to see them, e.g. getting a job, making character changes, getting married, being fruitful, etc. Don't let any lack of results from the past stop you from having faith and dreaming of great things for your life.

Your faith will continue to be tested. Have faith and pass the test. When you forget your faith, you forfeit God's favour.

Q. Are you walking by faith or by results? The only way to know the answer to this is to see how you react when the things you set out to achieve do not take place.

Be confident in setting goals for yourself for this year and for next. Do not fear setting goals because you saw some of your previous ones not come through. Have faith, set goals for yourself, and let us all glorify God by relying on him at all points in all that we do.
