It was fun in the sun for every single present as Nairobi’s Central park became the venue for fun and games for singles from Nairobi’s Metro and West regions. The public holiday of Idd served as a perfect excuse to get together, make noise and make friends.
The theme for the day was “Remember The Time” as games and activities were based on nursery songs and games that we all used to live by and laugh to. An added ingredient was a series of team-building exercises, conducted by Caled Odhiambo, a trainer at HOPE worldwide Kenya. Caleb added Scripture to his signature brand of humour and energy as he took everyone through the exercises and taught lessons of unity, teamwork, confidence and self-esteem. Before then end, young Christians were honoured with cards and special mention.
Steve Onyaga said afterwards, “There was togetherness, team spirit and great fun.”
Acknowledging an innovative bend to the occasion, Philip Okullo said, ”The team-building exercises fulfilled their purpose. They were a useful addition to the usual pattern of our picnics.”
Raymond Alimahadu, recognizing baby Christians as a special group shared, “I uphold the honouring of young Christians that was publicly done during the occasion.”
The singles and their children “ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God” and building their unity. It was not only fun in the sun for everyone but fun for everyone together as one. “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity” (Psalm 133:1)!
