30 November 2004 JUBILATION AS JARRETT AND JEBET ARE JOINED ![]() God blessed Saturday 27th November 2004 with wonderful warm and sunny weather at the end of a week that had seen much rain and cold. It was a perfect setting for the outdoor wedding of Jarrett Odwallo and Nancy Jebet, who are the leaders of the Nairobi church's youth ministry.
Jarrett has been a disciple for over fourteen years, during which period he has won many friends and made many disciples, and God rewarded his exemplary patience and humility with a beautiful bride of noble character. William Auki, who was in the wedding line-up, is a colleague of Jarrett and Nancy's in the full-time ministry, and has known Jarrett for fifteen years, said, "Jarrett reached out to me in 1989 when he was not yet a disciple, and we were both baptized the following year. Jarrett's getting married is a big thing for me. Fourteen years has been a long time waiting for him, but today God has blessed the great humble, giving and generous heart he has. I believe he'll have a great marriage from this moment on." Joseph Kung'u, to whom Jarrett initially reached out in their first week on campus in 1990, shares, "I've known Jarrett for a long time as a single man, so witnessing this and being part of the wedding is such an inspiration. Jarrett and Nancy's being a married couple in the campus ministry will help the ministry to be stable and to grow." Jane Maleya studied the bible with Nancy and discipled her for a long time before and after Nancy entered the full-time ministry. She shares, "It's like seeing my daughter getting married. I have seen her surrender and trust in God in this area of her life." As was the case when Jane herself got married last year, it is always inspiring to see faithful Christians remain close to God during the emotional roller coaster of many single years and bear out the fact that when we seek first the Lord's kingdom he will take care of us, look after us and grant us the desires of our hearts. |
