YOUTHBITES: Newsbites From Nairobi's Youth Ministry - The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." (1 Timothy 4:12) And in different ways, various members of Nairobi's youth ministry have in recent weeks set a great example in sports, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

HIDDEN TREASURE-2004 Teen Camp
For this year's camp, the teens of the Nairobi Christian Church headed for the port city of Mombasa on the Kenya coast. "Hidden Treasure" was the theme for this year's teen camp.It was three days of sun, sand, sea, scripture and spirituality. The hidden treasures of God's word, fellowship in God's kingdom and a purpose-filled life as a disciple, were uncovered for all to cherish.

HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL Aretha MutumwikaIn July of this year, Aretha Mutumwika from the Kigali church had the honour and privilege of attending the HOPE Youth Corps in the city of Chicago in the USA. This is an account of her faith-building, life-changing experience. "I intend to have the same heart that I had in Chicago and teach from the scriptures that have encouraged me so we can bring out our best for the needy in Kigali."

Nairobi Mini Teen Camp 2004-"A Fresh Start"

The annual year-opening mini-camp for the Nairobi church's teens was special this year because the teens and campus ministry of the Kampala church came into town to join them.

It was two days of great fun, sporting competitions, making friends and hearing lessons from the word of God. The theme was "A Fresh Start" and was an excellent way to begin the year 2004.

CHARIOTS OF FIRE- Nairobi Campus Retreat 2004

ThemeThe extensive, serene grounds of YMCA Naivasha, by the shores of Lake Naivasha, on the floor of the great Rift Valley, was the setting for the first ever retreat of the Nairobi church's campus ministry in early January. The theme for the retreat was "Chariots Of Fire." The fires of fun and fellowship were certainly burning, and the three days proved to be an ideal way for the students to kick off the new year.


DISCIPLE STARTS DYNAMIC MINISTRY AT HIS COLLEGE
Charles Muiruri When Charles Muiruri left Nairobi for the town of Machakos to pursue his long-awaited dream of becoming a teacher, he also held passionately to his desire to help people around him to become disciples and live out kingdom dreams of their own. And as he prepares to graduate now, both of those dreams are being fulfilled.


PETERSON'S PASSPORT OF PRAYER Peterson Kamwathi Peterson Kamwathi, a teen worker in the Nairobi church, is an artist, and when he entered a competition to be one of three men chosen from Kenya to participate in the prestigious Festival Mundial in The Netherlands, some told him that he didn't stand a chance. But he decided to put into practice lessons about prayer that he was learning from the Bible, and God answered him with success.


BIG FIVE, GREAT FUN-Teens Camp 2003 SingingIt was Students On Safari as all roads led to the Tsavo East National Park, about 450 kilometres from Nairobi, for the 2003 Nairobi Christian Church teens camp, entitled "The Big Five" after the nickname universally given to the lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant. The life-changing retreat included classes taught by various leaders from the campus ministry, game drives to view wildlife, group devotionals, lots of time for games and optional early-morning aerobics.
