TEEN EXPLOSION IN NAIROBI August, 2001The Nairobi Teen ministry officially kicked off in January of this year, 2001. Seventy fired up teens began having their own services, midweek and an occasional Sunday, devotionals, bible talks and other activities. Eight months later, the fire has not died as the teens have seen 50% growth numerically and incalculable growth spiritually. The goal of the teen ministry in Nairobi is to redefine what is " cool" for their generation. In July they put in a theatrical presentation for the Church in order to raise money for the special contribution and in August they had their first ever Teen Camp entitled "Excellence!" God has been blessing the zeal of the teens as they strive " to let no one look down on them because they are young". Not only do they have high numbers of their friends come to church, many of whom have become disciples, many teens of disciples have also been baptized uniting families in Christ! Another goal of the teens is to have a disciple in every one of the high schools in Nairobi! Please be praying for the awesome group of young disciples as they seek to leave the mark of Christ on their generation! |
