ABUNDANTLY FRUITFUL

Derrick Mwale

As 1999 drew to a close, it had been a while since Derrick Mwale, a brother in the Nairobi Christian Church, had been fruitful - 5 years, in fact. But he was not going to let that stop him from reaching out to people and looking for men who wanted to become disciples. He invited one of his colleagues work, Sylvester Ogolla, to church. Sylvester came, loved it, studied the Bible and got baptized in December of 1999. As the new millennium rolled around, Sylvester exploded with fruit.

Sylvester brought to the Lord his sister, Lydia, 3 of his brothers, Fred, Martin and Zaccheus, his cousin, Caleb, a friend, William, a work colleague, Omole, and another work colleague, Wekesa, who then brought his wife, Emily. The crowning moment was when Sylvester's mother, Mary, was baptized into Christ.

One of those friends, William, mentioned earlier, then lead to Christ his brother, Raphael, 3 of his (William's) friends, Denish, Asiago and Arum, and Arum brought his wife, Naomi, who also became a disciple.

Denish, is on campus in Nairobi, at Kenyatta University, and he in turn reached out to his friends on campus, regularly having as many as 10 of his friends at Bible Talk. His close friend, Sam, good friend, Millicent, and classmate, Susan, all got baptized.

After a period of five years without being fruitful, Derrick, with a single invitation to one of his colleagues at work, has spawned 19 new disciples in a period of 16 months.
